SALARY:  $28.00 – 36.00 per hour

Sony Electronics Professional Solutions of America has an exciting opportunity available for a Service Engineer III in our Refurbishment, Configuration, and QA department. The department performs refurbishment of Sony professional products as well as pre-sales configurations, tests, and upgrades. Product lines supported include broadcast video cameras, production switchers, video servers, 4K digital cinema products, projectors, and medical products.

This individual will troubleshoot, repair and refurbish used Sony professional video equipment.  The individual will also configure, upgrade, and test new Sony products prior to sale. This Individual must be able  to work independently and provide advice as needed to other engineers or technical specialists based on their technical expertise.  

The role includes completion of related administrative tasks, which will include work order creation, estimate preparation, parts ordering, documentation of service performed, and completion of work orders for assigned jobs.

  • Associates Degree or equivalent with an emphasis in electronics, electrical engineering, broadcast engineering and/or systems preferred. Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the hands-on repair and service of electronic equipment, preferably professional video cameras, projectors, displays, and monitors is required.
  • Experience in troubleshooting video and audio production switchers and/or troubleshooting and repairing projectors is a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of digital and analog circuitry is required.
  • Knowledge of and use of sophisticated test equipment in the repair process is a must.
  • Experience in precision soldering is required (SMT). BGA soldering skills is a plus.
  • Must know and abide by ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of basic PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and standard software applications.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds from floor to chest level.
