SALARY: $67,000 – $70,000
This position allows for fully remote work closely following a Pacific time zone schedule. The Archivist has responsibility for the Museum’s historic software, born digital collections, and AV collections (moving and still image, and audio). Tasks include arranging, describing, and making accessible new and legacy digitized AV, digital objects, and monitoring internal digital workflows. The Archivist will have primary responsibility for day to day management of the Museum’s Digital Repository. The successful applicant will understand a variety of technologies related to digital processing and preservation and will keep abreast of new technical information and developments relating to the life cycle of digital objects.
The position will support the OpenCHM initiative and general collection operations. The Archivist will work closely and collaboratively with collections and curatorial staff in implementing CHM’s move to a new Collections Management System (CMS) and further enabling a new online collections access platform. The position requires an individual who is self-motivated and eager to learn and explore. The Archivist will understand the functions and technologies related to CMS’s for museum and archival collections, plus search and retrieval functions and will keep abreast of new technical information and developments relating to the collections management and DAM systems.
