AMIA is seeking a highly experienced professional to perform grant writing for a variety of association-wide funding opportunities.

AMIA is seeking a highly experienced professional to perform grant writing for a variety of association-wide funding opportunities. This is an independent contract position. Work will be completed remotely through email and phone communications, as well as through virtual meetings. The grant writer will be paid on a project basis.

The grants professional will be responsible for research, drafting, and finalization of grants for the continuation of the ADIFP Fellowship and other educational, EDI, and advocacy initiatives of AMIA.

The Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) is a nonprofit international association dedicated to the preservation and use of moving image media. AMIA supports public and professional education and fosters cooperation and communication among the individuals and organizations concerned with the acquisition, preservation, description, exhibition, and use of moving image materials.

The project is funded under a contract with the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR), with funds provided by the National Film Preservation Board (NFPB).

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of nonprofits and ability to absorb and articulate mission and programs
  • Experience and engagement with field of av preservation, or specialized grants with audiovisual collections
  • Demonstrated ability to craft compelling funding proposals including to GLAM funders such as NEH, IMLS, CLIR, Mellon, and others
  • Creativity in expanding funding opportunities beyond traditional GLAM funders
  • Track record of successful major grants
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-motivated and highly organized
  • Solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants and the ability to create interactive spreadsheets” to this qualification
  • Able to work well independently and collaboratively
  • Experience in regional and national institutional fundraising for historical, cultural, library and/or museums preferred
  • Passion for education, labor rights, and increasing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI)
  • Although current or past AMIA membership is not a requirement,  familiarity with AMIA, its mission, programs, and organizational priorities will be a plus

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the AMIA Board and EDI Liaison, the grant writer may engage with members of AMIA’s Advancement Task Force, Continuing Education Task Force, Advocacy Committee, and other groups as needed, to support the overall fundraising efforts of AMIA.

Compensation

Grant writer will be an independent contractor and paid a total sum of $11,000 at a rate of $40 per hour for an estimated total of 275 total hours from Jan 1, 2021 to July 31, 2021.
