Anytime people gather as a group we form both a community and a culture. As members of AMIA we are committed to creating and fostering a safe and inclusive environment, and seek a culture that is respectful, comfortable, open, curious, and kind.
In support of these values, AMIA has adopted a Code of Conduct and will now adopt a Community Agreement.
AMIA’s Code of Conduct outlines behaviors that are not allowed in AMIA spaces, how to report concerns or incidents, and how the code will be applied.
AMIA’s Community Agreement is an aspirational framework to inspire us all to hold safe, inclusive, engaging, and respectful discussions. The Community Agreement allows members to encourage each other to honor these values.
While the Code of Conduct provides a reporting structure, the Community Agreement helps us identify concrete ways to create the culture we aspire to and to talk about and work through conflict as colleagues, with mutual respect
Every two years, the Code of Conduct is sent to the membership for review. Please review the Code of Conduct here.
The Community Agreement has been reviewed by the Board and by Committee Chairs, and is now open to review by members before adoption. Review the draft Community Agreement here.
Review of the two documents has been extended until October 20, 2021.
