Restoration Essentials for Small Archives & Nonprofits - A Workshop Practicum

The Restoration Essentials series introduces practical film restoration techniques and is designed for small archives and nonprofit organizations. Participants can attend an optional introductory DaVinci Resolve session to become familiar with the software before working through a shared restoration project across three hands-on practicum sessions.

The introductory DaVinci Resolve session is open to anyone interested in learning the basics of the software; registration for the Restoration Essentials workshop series is not required

Introduction to DaVinci Restoration Tools

This workshop will review basic tools to get you started on your way in Davinci Resolve, from project setup, importing material, basic editing and basic deliveries. You can participate in this session in preparation for the Film Restoration series.

 

Film Restoration Essentials for Small Archives and Non-Profits

This three-part workshop practicum equips small archives and non-profit organizations with the skills to perform high-quality film restorations using low-cost, accessible software. Using a common restoration project throughout the series, participants will work through each stage of the process while progressively building skills session by session. Topics include color correction, stabilization, deflicker, automatic and manual dirt removal, degraining, frame repair, and a brief introduction to machine learning workflows.
