Department:     Moving Image Department

Reports To:        Jared Case, Curator of Film Exhibitions

Work Hours:     Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Tuesday – Saturday.

Due to the Dryden Theatre’s hours of operation, night and weekend hours  are required

Posting Dates:  June 6, 2022 – until filled

Salary Range:    $17 – $19 per hour or $33,150 – $37,050.

**As a condition of employment, the museum requires employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which includes an mRNA booster vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna)**

 Overview:

Under the supervision of the Curator of Film Exhibitions, the Theatre Manager will oversee the Dryden Theatre staff and day-to-day operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the Dryden Theatre for weekly screenings, Tuesday – Saturday, as well as special events as assigned. Provide information and assistance to customers. Respond to inquiries and complaints.
  • Oversee, supervise, and schedule Dryden Theatre Box Office staff; train and evaluate performance, schedule and assign to specific duties.
  • Monitor sound and image during show, make adjustments as needed to ensure quality of the program.
  • Coordinate film introductions and (in collaboration with the projectionist) start of program.
  • Coordinate implementation of special events held in the Dryden Theatre.
  • Track and record program attendance and income statistics to measure performance by month, year, and film title. Maintain a historic database of Dryden Theatre screenings and program notes.
  • Administer Dryden Theatre website.
  • Administer ticketing software as it pertains to screenings and events in the Dryden Theatre.
  • Maintain displays and posters in Dryden lobby and front entrance.
  • Enforce safety, health, and security rules.
  • Participate in the student activities and curriculum of the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation including, but not limited to, supervising projects, mentoring students during rotations and assisting with student field trips.
  • Maintain appearance of the Dryden Theatre. Report any issues to the Facilities Manager and/or the Curator of Film Exhibitions.
  • Coordinates print shipping in collaboration with the Curator of Film Exhibitions.
  • Oversees community outreach in collaboration with the Curator of Film Exhibitions.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Curator of Film Exhibitions.

Physical Activity / Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in the Theatre with light to moderate noise. This position requires standing, speaking, hearing, seeing and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.

 Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Degree in film studies or equivalent is preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Must possess an excellent knowledge of film history.
  • Previous guest service and supervisory experience is required.
  • Must have experience handling money transactions.
  • Must have Interpersonal skills, Guest service/engagement skills, excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as basic math/accounting skills.
