2023 Summer Internship

The Project
The Archives Department at the Hagley Library is seeking an intern to assist with processing our film and video collections. The intern will be under the supervision of Hagley Library’s Chief Curator and Audiovisual Digitization Archivist

Duties will include:
●    Assist with the appraisal of a large 16mm film collection
●    Describe, digitize, and create metadata for film and video
●    Author EAD and DACS-compliant findings aid(s) using ArchivesSpace
●    Compile digitized film and audio files using video editing software
●    Learn basic archival theory and processing procedures for Audiovisual material

Qualifications
The intern should, at a minimum, have an understanding of special collections and/or archives. Experience or training in archival processing is preferred. Specific requirements include:
•    Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
•    Interest in working in the library or archival field.
•    Part of the internship responsibilities (approximately 20% of the time) requires moving and lifting heavy boxes while standing for extended periods.
Terms
Summer internships at Hagley typically entail 280 hours of service, with start and end dates set by mutual agreement. The rate is $18 per hour.
