This position plays a key role in preserving the University of Kansas Libraries’ valuable and unique collections by enhancing the University’s capacity to preserve and make available recorded sound and moving image materials. The incumbent will report to the Head of Conservation Services and maintain a number of critical working relationships with units and groups that are engaged in preservation, curation, and access to media. The Audio Visual Preservation Specialist will assist archivists, curators, collection managers, and public services staff in identifying at-risk collections, will suggest appropriate reformatting options, and will direct the day-to-day operations of reformatting projects, maintenance of equipment, and development of workflows in support of preservation, description, and access.
