Rare films uncovered in UGA media archives

Silent films never said so much about Georgia history. Rare home movies dating back to around 1919 were uncovered in the University of Georgia Libraries’ Walter J. Brown Media Archives, the only institution in the state that is dedicated to preserving such media.

“[The films] were donated as part of this entire collection from Pebble Hill Plantation down in Thomasville, Georgia and we got a lot of films from them and just started going through them and looking at them,” said Margie Compton, a media archivist at UGA.
